Reviews

Verified reviews from customers across Norfolk, from an independent source - not testimonials typed into a web page.

Short answer

Our reviews come from Checkatrade, where the customer is verified and we cannot edit or remove what they wrote. This page explains where they come from and why we do not simply type quotes onto a page.

Where our reviews come from

Checkatrade, where reviews are collected from verified customers, and where we can neither edit them nor remove one we do not like.

That last point is the whole reason for using an independent platform. A testimonial typed onto a website by the business itself carries almost no information, because there is no mechanism preventing it from being invented. Anybody can type five stars and a name.

Why this page does not have quotes typed onto it

Because a quote on our own page proves nothing, and because copying a handful of favourable reviews onto a site while leaving the rest on the platform is selective in a way we would rather avoid. The platform has all of them, good and otherwise, and that is where they should be read.

What a useful review actually tells you

Star ratings are less informative than people assume. What is worth reading for:

  1. Whether they turned up when they said. The most common complaint about any trade, and the easiest thing to get right.
  2. Whether the price matched the quote. Or whether it changed once work started.
  3. Whether things were explained. A customer who understood what was wrong and why is a customer who was dealt with properly.
  4. How problems were handled. Every business has jobs that go wrong. What matters is what happened next.
  5. Whether they called again. Repeat work is the strongest signal there is.
  6. The unfavourable ones. A business with only perfect reviews has either done very few jobs or is curating. The response to a poor review tells you more than the review does.

We would rather you read the lot than a selected handful.

If we have done work for you

A review genuinely helps, and so does an honest one that is not glowing.

  • On the platform rather than to us, so it is verified and independent.
  • Honestly. If something was not right, say so – it is more useful to the next person and more useful to us.
  • Specifically. ‘Turned up on time, explained the fault, price matched the quote’ tells somebody far more than ‘great service’.
  • Whenever suits. There is no window and we are not going to chase you.

And if something was not right, tell us first. We would far rather fix it than read about it, and a business that responds properly to a complaint is worth more than one that never gets any.

How we try to earn them

Not a list of promises, but the things we actually do that reviews tend to mention:

What Why it matters
Turn up when we said, or call if we cannot The single most common failure across the trade, and entirely within our control
Explain the fault before quoting the repair So you know what you are paying for and can make your own decision
Written, itemised quotes So the price does not change on the doorstep
Tell you before doing anything extra Rather than adding it to an invoice
Say when a job is not worth doing It costs us call-outs and it is why people call again
Hand over the paperwork Certificates, readings, benchmark records – the evidence, not just the invoice
Clear up properly Which should not need saying and does
The most-mentioned thing is the least technical

Across the trade generally, what customers write about is almost never the quality of the soldering. It is whether somebody turned up, whether they explained things, and whether the price was what they were told. That is worth knowing if you are choosing anybody, us included.

Service-specific reviews

Reviews on individual service pages – so somebody considering a bathroom reads bathroom reviews rather than boiler service reviews – is a genuinely useful thing and it needs the reviews segmented properly from the platform.

It is on the list rather than done. When it exists it will pull from the same verified source rather than being retyped, for the same reason this page does not have quotes on it.

In the meantime, the platform lets you read everything, and recent work will carry case studies from real jobs as the permissions accumulate.

Had work done? A review on the platform helps the next person – and an honest one that is not glowing helps more than a vague one that is.

Questions we get asked about this

Why are there no reviews on this page?

Because a quote typed onto our own website proves nothing. Ours are on Checkatrade, where the customer is verified and we cannot edit or remove them.

Can you delete a bad review?

No, and that is the point of using an independent platform. What we can do is respond to it and put the problem right.

How do I leave a review?

On the platform rather than to us, so it is verified. Honest and specific is more useful than glowing and vague.

Something was not right with my job. What should I do?

Tell us first. We would far rather fix it than read about it, and how a business handles a complaint is more informative than a run of perfect reviews.

Will you show reviews for specific services?

It is on the list. When it happens it will pull from the verified source rather than being retyped, for the same reason this page has no quotes on it.

Should I trust a business with only perfect reviews?

Be curious about it. A business with a genuine volume of work and no unfavourable reviews at all has either done very few jobs or is curating. The response to a poor one tells you more than the review does.

Need this doing?

Call and describe the problem — you will speak to an engineer, not a call centre. Written quotes, no estimates over the phone.
