Privacy policy

What personal information we collect, why, how long we keep it, and your rights under UK data protection law.

Short answer

We collect the information needed to carry out work and meet our legal obligations – contact details, job records and certificates. This site itself collects nothing automatically beyond what is needed to serve the pages.

Who we are

Lex Plumbing, a plumbing and heating business operating in Norwich and Norfolk. For any question about how we handle personal information, or to make a request about your data, contact alex@lexplumbing.co.uk or call 07506 070316.

This policy describes the site as built

This is a static website. It does not run analytics, advertising or marketing scripts, it has no third-party trackers, and it does not host forms that submit your details to an external service. If any of that changes, this policy changes with it. If you are reading this and something on the site appears to contradict it, tell us – we would want to know.

What we collect, and why

Information Why we hold it Lawful basis
Name, address, phone and email To arrange work, attend the property and contact you about it Contract, or steps taken before entering one
Details of the work requested To advise, quote and carry out the job Contract
Job records – what was found and done To provide continuity of service, and because some records must be kept Contract, and legal obligation
Certificates and safety records Because the law requires them to be created and retained for defined periods Legal obligation
Photographs of the work To record what was found, particularly where it is not visible afterwards Legitimate interests, and consent where published
Payment records To take payment and to meet accounting and tax obligations Contract, and legal obligation
Correspondence To handle enquiries and any subsequent questions Legitimate interests
Appliance and system details To carry out the work correctly and safely Contract

We do not collect information we do not need, and we do not ask for anything that is not relevant to the work.

What this website collects

Very little, by design.

  • No analytics. The site does not run Google Analytics or any equivalent.
  • No advertising or marketing scripts, and no third-party trackers.
  • No social media pixels.
  • No login, no account, no profile.
  • The tools do not store your figures. Calculations happen in your browser and nothing is retained or transmitted.
  • Server logs may record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of request, as any web server does. They exist for security and for keeping the site running.

See the cookie policy for what is stored on your device.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for marketing. We share it only where it is necessary:

  1. Registration and certification bodies, where notifiable work must be notified and a certificate issued.
  2. Manufacturers, where a warranty must be registered or a claim made.
  3. Suppliers, where a part must be ordered to a delivery address.
  4. Our accountant, for payment and tax records.
  5. Regulators, where we are legally required to provide information – for example where an appliance is classified as unsafe and must be reported.
  6. Your insurer, where you have asked us to provide a report for a claim.
  7. Specialist contractors, where a job genuinely needs one and you have agreed.

Where a third party processes information on our behalf, we expect them to handle it appropriately and only for that purpose.

How long we keep it

  • Certificates and safety records – for the period the relevant regulations require, and generally longer where it is useful to you.
  • Job records – for a period that allows us to provide continuity of service and to answer questions about work we have done.
  • Payment and accounting records – for the period required by tax law.
  • Enquiries that did not become work – for a short period, then deleted.
  • Photographs – alongside the job record, unless you have asked us to delete them.

We do not keep information indefinitely for its own sake, and if you ask us what we hold about you we will tell you.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  1. Ask what we hold about you, and receive a copy.
  2. Have inaccurate information corrected.
  3. Ask for information to be deleted, where we are not required to keep it.
  4. Restrict how we use it, in certain circumstances.
  5. Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  6. Receive your information in a portable format, in certain circumstances.
  7. Withdraw consent, where consent is the basis – for example permission to publish photographs of your job.

Contact alex@lexplumbing.co.uk to exercise any of these. There is no charge in normal circumstances and we will respond within the statutory period.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection. We would rather you raised it with us first so we have the chance to put it right.

Question about what we hold, or want something deleted? Email alex@lexplumbing.co.uk and we will deal with it.

Questions we get asked about this

Does this website track me?

No. There is no analytics, no advertising or marketing scripts, and no third-party trackers. Server logs record standard technical information as any web server does.

Do the tools store what I enter?

No. Calculations happen in your browser and nothing is retained or transmitted.

Will you send me marketing?

Not unless you have asked for it. We do not sell or share information for marketing purposes.

How long do you keep my details?

Certificates and safety records for the period regulations require; job records for long enough to provide continuity; accounting records for the period tax law requires. Enquiries that did not become work are deleted after a short period.

Can I ask you to delete my information?

Yes, where we are not legally required to keep it – safety certificates in particular must be retained for defined periods. Email us and we will tell you what we can and cannot delete, and why.

Who do you share my information with?

Only where necessary – certification bodies, manufacturers for warranty, suppliers for deliveries, our accountant, regulators where legally required, and your insurer if you have asked for a report. Never for marketing.

Need this doing?
