Call 07506 070316 or email alex@lexplumbing.co.uk. For anything urgent, call rather than email. For gas emergencies, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first – not us.
If it is an emergency, read this first
Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. Turn off at the meter, open doors and windows, do not operate any electrical switch, do not use a flame, get everyone out if the smell is strong, and call from outside. They are free, always available, and faster than us. We deal with the repair afterwards.
Water escaping and you cannot stop it: turn the stopcock off, open the cold taps downstairs, turn the heating and hot water off, and isolate the electrics if water is anywhere near them. Then call. Doing those four things matters more than how fast anybody can drive – see a pipe has burst.
A ceiling bulging with water: stay out of the room, keep everyone out, and turn off the electrics to that area. It comes down suddenly and heavily.
How to reach us
| Method | Best for | Response |
|---|---|---|
| Phone – 07506 070316 | Anything urgent, and anything you want an answer to today | You will speak to an engineer, not a call centre |
| Email – alex@lexplumbing.co.uk | Quotes, non-urgent enquiries, sending photographs | Same or next working day, usually |
| Quote request | Planned work where you want it in writing | See get a quote |
For anything urgent, call. An email sent at eight in the evening is read in the morning; a phone call gets an answer now. That is not a criticism of email, it is just how it works.
What to have ready
A good description resolves a surprising number of calls without a visit. What helps:
- What is actually happening, described rather than diagnosed. ‘The boiler makes a noise and then stops’ is more useful than ‘I think the pump has gone’.
- Any fault code, written down exactly, before you reset anything.
- What system you have – combi or cylinder, oil or gas – if you know.
- What you have already tried, including resets.
- Make and model if you can reach them, or a photograph of the data plate.
- Whether it is getting worse.
- Where you are, because Norfolk is a big county and it affects how quickly we could be there.
- Access – parking, gates, tracks, and who will let us in.
Photographs help enormously and you can email them. A picture of an oil tank, a fault code display, a boiler data plate or a wet patch tells us more than a paragraph.
What happens when you call
- You speak to an engineerNot a scheduler working from a script. Most problems can be narrowed down by somebody who knows what to ask.
- We establish whether you need a visitSometimes you do not, and we will say so. Several of the guides on this site exist because the same questions come up.
- We tell you what a visit costsBefore we set off, not afterwards.
- We give you a realistic timeRather than an optimistic one. If we cannot get to you when you need us, we will say so immediately so you can call somebody who can.
- For anything substantial, we survey itBecause a quote given without seeing the job is a quote that will change.
Where we cover
Norwich and the surrounding villages routinely, the rest of Norfolk on planned days, and further across East Anglia for larger and commercial works.
If you are at the edge of that, ask. We will tell you honestly – including when somebody nearer would serve you better. A referral that works out is worth more to us than a job that does not. See areas we cover.
Call 07506 070316 and describe the problem. Half the value of a phone call is finding out you do not need a visit.
Questions we get asked about this
What is the fastest way to reach you?
The phone, for anything urgent. Email is read the same or next working day, which is fine for quotes and non-urgent enquiries and not fine at eight in the evening with water coming through a ceiling.
Will I speak to an engineer?
Yes. Not a call centre and not a scheduler working from a script.
Can I send photographs?
Yes, by email, and they help enormously. A fault code display, a boiler data plate, an oil tank or a wet patch tells us more than a paragraph.
What if I smell gas?
Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first, not us. They are free, always available and faster. We deal with the repair afterwards.
Will you tell me if I do not need a visit?
Regularly. Several of the guides on this site exist because the same questions come up on the phone, and if a conversation saves you a call-out that is a good outcome.
Do you cover my area?
Norfolk in full, with Norwich and around covered routinely and the wider county on planned days. Ask if you are at the edge – we will be honest, including when somebody nearer would suit you better.
Need this doing?
Call and describe the problem — you will speak to an engineer, not a call centre. Written quotes, no estimates over the phone.
