Off-grid heating, hard water from the chalk geology, and a large stock of older solid-walled property. Those three conditions are why the work here looks different from the same trade elsewhere.
Beyond Norfolk
We work further into East Anglia for larger domestic projects and for commercial contracts. For routine domestic work outside the county, there is usually somebody nearer who will serve you better – and we would rather say so than take the job and disappoint you on response times.
- Commercial contracts across the region, where the work is planned rather than reactive.
- Larger domestic projects – full heating systems, bathrooms, substantial oil work – where a planned programme makes travel proportionate.
- Specialist oil work, where the specialism is genuinely scarce and worth travelling for.
- Not routine call-outs and small jobs at distance, where the travel would be most of what you were paying for.
Rural realities
A large part of this county is properly rural, and it changes the practicalities in ways that are worth knowing before you call:
- Response times are longer. A single-track lane in February is not the same as a Norwich terrace, and we will give you a realistic answer rather than an optimistic one.
- Access matters. Tell us about the gate, the track, the livestock and where a van can actually turn round. It saves a wasted visit for both of us.
- Winter is slower. Bad weather genuinely affects rural response and we will say so.
- Frozen pipes are far more common, in properties with outbuildings, long exposed runs and unheated spaces.
- Empty properties are a real problem. Second homes and holiday lets standing empty over winter produce the most expensive claims in this county.
- Private water supplies are common on farms and isolated properties, and they are a different situation entirely.
- Off-grid is the norm, not the exception.

If we are not right for you
It happens, and we would rather say so at the point you call than later:
- Too far for the job size. A small job at the far end of the county is mostly travel, and that is not good value for you.
- Wrong trade. Below-ground drainage, camera surveys and collapsed clay pipework are a drainage specialist’s work.
- Wrong scale. A national multi-site framework is beyond us and we will say so.
- Genuinely urgent and we cannot get there. We will tell you immediately so you can call somebody who can, rather than leaving you waiting.
Where we can, we will point you at somebody. A referral that works out is worth more to us than a job that does not.
